Sophie Cunningham makes ‘boobs’ joke after posing with Sydney Sweeney

WNBA Star Sophie Cunningham isn’t afraid to make a joke, even when meeting one of the most popular Hollywood stars on the planet.

Cunningham, 29, posed for photos alongside the actress Sydney Sweeney during a NASCAR race in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday, November 2. The WNBA star then shared the photo via X, where she apparently also made a joke in reference to Sweeney’s appearance.

“[O]none of us forgot our boobs at home @sydney_sweeney,” the athlete wrote, alongside a smiling emoji.

Cunningham’s light-hearted comment appeared to be a reference to the way the two were dressed. While the Indiana Fever guard wore a light gray cropped T-shirt layered over a Phoenix jersey, Sweeney, 28, wore a low-cut white crop top under a white and red racing jacket.

Sophie Cunningham enters her seventh season in the WNBA and her first as a member of the revamped Indiana Fever, the team led by young phenom Caitlin Clark. Clark’s impact on the WNBA – and basketball in general – has been well documented. But now that Indiana is in a position to fight for a […]

The basketball player has been very busy during the league’s offseason. On Wednesday, October 29, Cunningham shared a series of photos via Instagram from a visit to Hello America.

“Hello ‘Merica! Nothing like eating steak nuggets at 7am😋,” she captioned the carousel of images, which showed her sitting atop the reception desk as well as another photo of Cunningham posing with Robin Roberts.

Cunningham also discussed the visit on his podcast “Show Me Something.”

“The people there are absolutely so nice,” she told the co-host. Wilson West in an episode broadcast on Saturday, November 1. “The hair and makeup was great. I met Robin, I met Ginger [Zee] … Dude, [Robin] It was so cool. She was so cool. I was like, my God, this is great. But I was there with Arby’s. And it was incredible. I ate bites of steak around 7 or 8 in the morning, it was nice.

Cunningham also addressed the ongoing CBA negotiations within the WNBA. The league’s athletes are demanding a higher percentage of overall revenue that would increase as the league continues to grow — and aren’t satisfied with the numbers executives have offered them so far. Both sides missed the Friday, October 31 deadline to sign a new agreement and entered into a 30-day extension period.

The delay could mean next year’s free agency period will also take place later than usual and athletes may not sign contracts with teams anytime soon. Cunningham, like most WNBA players, will be an unrestricted free agent before the 2026 season.

“I want this next contract so I can buy a house!” she told Wilson. “I just want to feel at home and comfortable, but I won’t decorate anything again until I have a three-year contract ahead of me.”

Cunningham was traded from the Phoenix Mercury to the Indiana Fever in a three-team trade in January 2025. As the team’s key player, she averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 assists in 25.2 minutes of play before tearing the MCL in her right knee on August 17.

In October, Cunningham revealed that she didn’t exactly follow all the instructions her doctors gave her during her recovery.

“I’m not the most patient person. I pray for patience, but I kind of let myself out of that cast without a doctor’s orders,” she said on “Show Me Something” that same month. I took my test and they said, “You’re progressing really well and you look great.” I said, “Say less.” »
