Social media exploded with reactions after the news announced that President Donald Trump was diagnosed with “chronic venous insufficiency”. Trump recently made an exam and discovered that he had swelling in his legs.

Donald Trump learns chronic insufficiency after health examination
At a meeting on Thursday July 17 at the White House, press secretary Karoline Leavitt read a note from Donald Trump’s doctor, Captain Sean Barbabella. In the letter, Barbabella said that the doctors ultrasound on Trump and then found a “chronic venous insufficiency”, a benign and common condition, especially among individuals over 70 years of age. Trump would have chosen to be transparent on the conclusions after people started to notice bruises on his hands and to provide legs.
According to CNN, Trump has passed the exam after noticing a slight swelling in the lower legs in recent weeks. Although he noticed swelling in his legs, Leavitt said that Donald Trump had shown no sign of heart failure, kidney problems or other systemic diseases.
What is chronic venous insufficiency and what does it mean for Trump?
Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when the valves inside certain veins do not work properly, which means that the blood has gone common in the veins, by CNN. People with this condition can face swelling in the legs or ankles, pain or cramps, varicose veins, pain or skin changes. Treatment usually starts with medication, but could later involve medical procedures if necessary. Dr. Jeremy Faust, assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Harvard Medical School, said that this type of news was not worrying or shocking.
