Smriti Mandhana-Palash Muchhal wedding postponed indefinitely; father of sick cricketer | Cricket News

The much-awaited wedding of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal, scheduled for Sunday in Sangli, has been postponed indefinitely.Mandhana’s manager Tuhin Mishra confirmed that her father was not feeling well and the family decided to suspend the ceremony.
“This morning, while they were having breakfast, Smriti’s father Shriniwas Mandhana suddenly started feeling unwell. We waited for a while, hoping that he would feel better, but his condition kept deteriorating. So we decided not to take any chances, called an ambulance and took him to the hospital. He is currently under observation,” Mishra told news agency PTI.Mandhana, one of the most prominent faces of Indian cricket and recent World Cup champion, was to marry Muchhal in an intimate ceremony attended only by close family and friends. Celebrations at Sangli continued throughout the week, with fans getting rare glimpses of the usually reserved opening enjoying its pre-wedding festivities.Mandhana and Muchhal’s relationship dates back to 2019, when they met through mutual friends in Mumbai’s creative circles. The couple kept their bond private for years while balancing demanding careers – Mandhana leading India’s charge on the world stage and Muchhal expanding his presence in film and music. They didn’t make their relationship public until July 2024, their fifth anniversary. Since then, the couple has shared limited but valuable glimpses of their trip, including Muchhal’s widely discussed proposal at the DY Patil Stadium after India’s World Cup triumph. Leading Mandhana, blindfolded, onto the very ground where she had made history, Muchhal went down on one knee with a ring, then cemented the moment with a tattoo of “SM18” on his forearm. The couple was to formalize their union on November 23, 2025, the date they had chosen to mark the start of their next chapter. With the ceremony now postponed indefinitely, the family is prioritizing the health of Mandhana’s father. The couple has yet to release a public statement.
