Shirley MacLaine calls Dance Hall of Fame induction ‘important recognition’

Shirley MacLaine is still young at heart.
On Wednesday, December 3, the legendary 91-year-old American actress and author appeared at the first-ever Dance Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Gloria Kaufmann Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.
At the inaugural awards ceremony, MacLaine received a Lifetime Achievement Award, which would later be named the Dance Hall of Fame Shirley MacLaine Lifetime Achievement Award.
In her speech, she said: “Receiving an award for dance is the most important recognition I can have.
The Oscar winner recalls: “My mother took me to a dance class when I was three because I had weak ankles and I fell in love with it. But here’s what it also included: the discipline, the love of music, the sense of cooperation with others, being on time.”
“And from that day on, I went to class every day until I was 60. I have to say that this dance, what I learned from participating in it, is why I’m still here,” she joked.
It is pertinent to mention that Shirley MacLaine made a rare appearance at the ceremony after being spotted on two unexpected public outings in Malibu, California, a place she called home.
