Saudi Pro League clubs now reportedly feel they can sign Liverpool star Mohamed Salah at a reduced price in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Egypt international is not fit at the moment and Arne Slot even left him on the bench in the club’s last two matches against West Ham and Sunderland.
According to iNews, this situation now appears to give Saudi parties growing confidence in signing Salah at a reduced fee as they prepare moves for January.
What sources say about Mohamed Salah’s Saudi transfer
“Several officials from the PIF (Saudi Public Investment Fund) and the Pro League believe that the power lies with them,” a source was quoted as saying in their report.
“Mo’s form, the unhappiness of not being in the team, Liverpool’s need to change something and the fact that they have too many strikers are all helping to push him towards the Middle East.”
The report adds that Saudi figures believe Salah was seriously tempted to join them earlier, although the 33-year-old ultimately ended up signing a new contract at Anfield towards the end of last season.
Is it time for Liverpool to let Mohamed Salah go?
Salah is an LFC legend, having scored 250 goals for the club since his arrival in 2017, helping them to two Premier League titles, the Champions League and other major honors during that time.
Yet even the best players eventually finish, and Salah simply seems beyond his best this season, failing to make the kind of impact he has had in the past.
With just five goals in 19 games so far, it might be worth thinking about letting Salah go and bringing in a replacement who is either already at his peak or heading there in the next two or three years.
Antoine Semenyo could be ideal, and he was recently linked to Liverpool in another iNews report, so that would make sense to keep an eye on.
