Samsung’s absurdly thin galaxy S25 can cut the cake – for $ 1,100

The era of Super Skinny phones is there. By beating Apple, which should announce “the iPhone 17 Air” this fall, Samsung used its virtual event unpacked today to share all the details on its own ultra-thin phone, the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Announced at the end of the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in January, the S25 EDGE captivated everyone with its thin design. 5.8 mm thick (not counting the camera bumps, because why would a sensible company count?), The S25 edge is the thinnest Android phone that Samsung has ever made, simply beating its thinner phone, the port of Galaxy A8 of 5.9 mm in 2018. A lean phone will not be cheap when it is available on May 30; Pre -orders start on May 12. Samsung requests $ 1,099 for the basic model with 256 GB of storage ($ 1,219 for 512 GB) just to have the privilege of switching a 163 g phone.

If you have followed the rumor mill, none of the technological specifications, I am about to tell you will surprise you. Above all that was disclosed was just about money. The S25 edge has a 120 Hz 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, a double-lens camera system with a main 200 megapixel lens and an ultra-large 12-megapixel lens, and a 12 megapixel selfie camera. It is also as durable as any other premium phone, with an IP68 note for dust and water resistance.
The engine feeding all of this is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Qualcomm mobile platform for Galaxy. Samsung sells two configurations: 12 GB of RAM with 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM with 512 GB of storage. Despite its thin profile, the S25 edge wraps a battery of 3,900 mAh. We will have to wait to see how much it is enough, but on paper, it is a smaller battery compared to the rest of the S25 family, which has 4,000 mAh (S25), 4,900mAh (S25 +) and 5,000 mAh (S25 Ultra). The latest Apple tea sheets suggest that the iPhone 17 Air battery will not last as long as the pros of launching the iPhone 17 and 17 this fall. There is a silver lining: the S25 edge supports the fast wireless load and the inverted wireless load (useful for the load of wireless headphones). I thought Samsung could abandon the two features to make the phone as thin as possible, but both are intact. Your move, Apple.
There is also Galaxy AI – The continuation of features generating Samsung AI – which was covered in its UI version of Android. The confirmed AI features include the “Now Brief”, which creates notifications and reminders based on your schedule and your use of applications, and “Now Bar”, which displays live updates and other information on the size of a bite on the Lock screen of the S25 EDGE (it’s a bit like the dynamic island of the iPhone, but more useful and located at the bottom of the screen). Other features generating AI centered on the camera include “Drawing Assist”, which transforms the sketches into detailed illustrations, and “Audio Eraser”, which removes unwanted sounds such as traffic noise in videos.
I have not yet held the S25 edge in my hands, but I’m sure it is slim enough to slide through the cake. Is it worth risking your new phone of $ 1,100 doing it? Certainly not, but someone has to do it … for science and probably a Tiktok video. There is also a legitimate concern as to whether the S25 edge will be easily folded. I am sure that some youtuber or influencers will try to sit on them in their rear pocket. Until we get an exam unit, what do you think of the thiniest phone in Samsung now that we know everything about it? Are the compromises (smaller battery and fewer cameras) tests? I’m just happy that he has two rear cameras instead of the single lens of the iPhone 17.
