Details on Jen Shah’s move from prison to program

A Bureau of Prisons spokesperson confirmed, according to the Associated Press, that officials transferred Jennifer Shah Wednesday morning. She served her sentence at the federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas. The Phoenix Residential Reentry Management Office will oversee the program she is currently enrolled in. This transfer means Shah is either detained at home or in a halfway house. Its expected release date is August 30, 2026.

“For privacy, safety and security reasons, we do not discuss an individual’s conditions of confinement, including reasons for transfer or plans for release, nor do we specify the specific location of an individual while in community confinement,” BOP spokesperson Emery Nelson wrote in an email to AP.

What has the ‘Real Housewives’ star been up to?

Judge Sidney Stein sentenced Jen Shah in 2023 to 6 1/2 years in prison for defrauding people in a telemarketing scam that lasted nearly a decade. At the time, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Sobelman said the 52-year-old was the most culpable. More than 30 defendants were accused of participating in this national fraud targeting people who were often vulnerable, older or unfamiliar with computers. The fraud involved fake services that the defendants claimed would help people make big money through online businesses.

Additionally, prosecutors said Jen Shah used profits from the project to live a life of luxury, including a nearly 10,000-square-foot mansion in Utah nicknamed “Shah Ski Chalet.” She also owned an apartment in midtown Manhattan and rented a Porsche Panamera. Additionally, the government said she appeared to be mocking the accusations against her by saying that the “The only thing I’m guilty of is being Shah-mazing.” They also accused her of profiting from the affair by marketing “Justice for Jen” merchandise after his arrest.

Jennifer apologized during her sentencing

The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge in July 2022. At her sentencing, Jen Shah apologized to the “innocent people” she said she hurt and pledged to pay $6.5 million in restitution and forfeiture after she is released from prison. At the sentencing, Shah apologized and said she planned to donate proceeds from “Justice for Jen” merchandise to the victims.

“I am solely responsible for my terrible decisions. It was all my fault and my wrongdoing,” Shah said, later continuing: “I wish I could have stayed outside of myself and seen the harm I was causing and changed course. I am deeply sorry.”
