Russell 2000 falls on terrible times

An index of the smallest U.S. companies by market value has underperformed of late.

The small-cap Russell 2000 index is down 3.5% over the past month, while the large-cap indexes – the Dow and S&P 500 – are up 2.6% and 1.7%, respectively.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq is up 1.8% over the same period. An index capturing emerging market companies, the MSCI EM, is up 0.5% while its counterpart, the FTSE All-World Developed is up 1.3%.
