Several major airports up to the bottom of the east coast have seen the flight to delay New York passengers in Washington, DC while the storms took place in the region on Monday evening.
The nightmare intervenes while travelers are preparing for the holiday weekend.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced an initial ladder delay at JFK international airport in New York shortly after 4:00 p.m., the average departure delay lasting approximately 90 minutes.

Philadelphia saw delays of an average of about two hours, according to the FAA.
Cumulatively, the five airports recorded around 600 cancellations and 1,900 delays, according to Flightaware data. Laguardia led the pack with around 180 flights canceled and 400 delayed, according to the site.
