Rip Director Talks Damon, Affleck’s ‘Brotherly’ Dynamic

Joe Carnahan, Rip director. sang the praises of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s friendship.

In a recent conversation with People At the New York premiere of the new film, the 56-year-old director and writer described the bond between longtime friends as “brotherly” while sharing some behind-the-scenes glimpses of the filming.

Ben and Matt, who have marked their four decades of friendship, play the role of a police duo in the upcoming crime thriller.

“Oh, they fight endlessly,” exclaimed Joe.

THE Gray The director went on to say, “It’s the way brothers fight. It’s the way my brother and I talk: we constantly clown the other person and it’s them.”

“It’s very fraternal, their relationship,” he raved.

Additionally, Joe revealed that casting Ben and Matt was “very easy” as both men are “world-class filmmakers in their own right.”

And both “have little gold statues too,” Joe said, referring to their Oscar-winning screenplay, Good Will Hunting.

“You have two guys; you talk about a 40-year friendship, you talk about them both being movie stars, which almost never happens. Think about it, these two best friends becoming movie stars,” Joe added.
