Revealed: Karan Johar Dharma Productions merges Dharmatic Entertainment to simplify operations: Bollywood News
Dharmatic Entertainment, the Dharma Productions digital branch, has now officially merged with his parent company, in accordance with a recent article in The Economic Times. History indicates that this decision is part of the Dharma plan “to consolidate operations in the middle of the changing entertainment landscape”. He also declared that the request for merger was accelerated and had already been approved by shareholders and creditors of companies, according to official documents.

This is one of the first main stages of Dharma Productions since the entrepreneur Adar Ponawalla bought a 50% participation in the company for Rs. 1,000 crores last year, evaluating the Dharma at Rs. 2,000 crusions. Another significant decision taken by the Had-Honcho of Dharma after the merger was to start a distribution arm. In a recent interview with Komal Nahta, Kjo admitted that the partnership with Adar Ponawalla had given him the impetus to present himself.
The article Economic Times has also revealed that the merger of Dharmatic Entertainment and Dharma Productions is in force from April 1, 2025 and should simplify the structure of the company by reducing the number of subsidiaries, by reducing costs and facilitating legal work.
Since Dharmatic was already fully owned by Dharma, no money was exchanged in the context of the agreement. The actions that Dharma held in Dharmatic will now be canceled. The article led a declaration of a company manager who said: “Dharmatic was envisaged as a creative studio focused on digital, but the industry has evolved in order to make integrated operations more impacting. This merger allows us to optimize resources and execute a lighter and more effective organization while continuing to tell powerful stories on platforms. ”
Dharmatic Entertainment was launched in 2018 in order to produce digital shows and films. They produced non-fiction shows like Kofee with Karan,, A fabulous life of Bollywood Wives,, Storiyaan’s tribe and love and fictitious titles like the game of fame,, Show time,, Gyaarah Gyaarah and want to join forces. The web films made by Dharmatic are Guilty (2020), AJEB DAASTAANS (2021), Looking for Sheela (2021; non-fiction), Meenakshi Sundaywar (2021), AE Simple Silver (2024), Askaniyan (2025) and AAP Jaisa Koi (2025). Interesting, Sarzameen (2025) was published directly on Jiohotstar but it was produced under Dharma Productions.
