Report: more than 100 players are faced with fines for the re-sale of SB tickets

The Renee Cassell passengers (L) by Brooklyn and his goddaughter Pierre Percy from New Windsor, show their Tickets from the Super Bowl on the way to their way to Meadowlands station for the Super Bowl at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford.

At least 100 players, as well as coaches and other team staff from around half of the NFL teams, would have sold their Super Bowl tickets for a higher value in violation of the League policies, ESPN reported on Friday.

According to a memo sent to the 32 NFL teams and examined by ESPN, an investigation by the League revealed that some “employees and club players sold their tickets to a small number of” bundlers “who worked with a ticket dealer to sell the superior super bowl tickets.

The players violating the agreement between the League and the NFL Players Association around the re-sale of the Super Bowl tickets would be subject to penalties, in particular fines of 1/2 times the nominal value of the tickets. The other employees of the team who violated the policy would have been sentenced to a fine of twice the nominal value of the tickets.

The memo said that those who had gathered tickets are confronted with higher fines, according to Sports Illustrated.

The nominal value of the Tickets for the Super Bowl Lix in February between the Eagles of Philadelphia and the Chiefs of Kansas City would have varied from $ 9,500 to $ 7,500, while prices on secondary sites varied from $ 2588 to almost $ 3,500 on the bottom at more than $ 10,000, with the average price, depending on the CBA ticket.

Players could be suspended if they refuse to pay the fines, by ESPN.

Some players have already paid the fines to avoid missing playing time.

In addition to the fines, players breaking the rule will also lose the right to their tickets allocated to the following two super bowls.

No player, coach or specific team who violated the policy was identified in the report by ESPN.
