Wolvaardt, Kapp to finally end the drought?

South Africa could be dark horses of the Women’s ODI World Cup ICC 2025.
South Africa arrives at the ICC 2025 women’s world cup with the weight of waiting on their shoulders. The semi-finalists in 2017 and 2022, the Proteas have always threatened the elite but fell below the summit. This year, with a team that boasted of proven international stars and new exciting names, they will be desperate to transform the potential into history by raising their first ODI World Cup trophy.
Insideport classifies the South African team for the 2025 Women’s World Cup.
Batter: experience at the top, fire in the middle (note: 8/10)
It could be their best department. The South African shot unit is titled by Captain Laura Wolvaardt, undoubtedly the best opening of the women’s match today. Known for its elegant elements, it once again anchors the first order. Besides her, Tazmin Brits turned into a reliable partner. The recent tour of the British of the Antilles showed its form when it has scored 184 points on three games, including a decisive century in the decision -maker of the series, which earned it Series player. Without forgetting, she marked a superb century against Pakistan, helped by the incredible 121 * by Marizanne Kapp.
The average order bears a serious firepower. Chloé Tryon, with her ODI striking rate of 101.83, is among the most destructive strikers of women’s crickets. She marries well with Sunne Luus, who marked a little 76 bullets on 65 bullets during a recent confrontation of the Antilles. Anneke Bosch and Nadine de Klerk add additional depth, ensuring that South Africa does not only depend on its fronts.
However, South Africa can sometimes rely too much on Wolvaardt or Kapp to provide the sleeves defining the match.

Versatiles: the largest asset in South Africa (note: 9/10)
The true strength of this team lies in its richness of versatile. With Marizanne Kapp, Chloé Tryon, Sune Luus, Nadine de Klerk, Anneke Bosch, Anxier Dercksen and Nonmiso Shangase, the balance is enviable. Perhaps only Australia can boast of such a depth.
Kapp remains the heart rate on the side. A real match winner, she has 167 ODI golets at 24.48 alongside 3182 points at 33.49. Its figures constitute it as one of the best versatile in modern game. Its ability to swing the mattresses with the bat or the ball is unrivaled. Tryon provides an average explosive strike, but also the talent for spells that change the situation, as shown in its brilliant 5/34 against the women of Sri Lanka in May 2025. Of Klerk is another artist coherent with 54 counters at 29.04 and 713 races at 11:00 p.m.
Bowling: Khaka and Klaas lead the charge (note: 7/10)
Even without the retired shabnim ismail, the bowling of South Africa retains both the bite and the variety. The rhythm attack is led by Ayabonga Khaka, who was the team’s battle horse, claiming 134 ODI counters at 26.90, and Masabata Klaas, who recently dismantled the Antilles with 4/25 figures. Tumi Sekhukhune adds more rhythm options, while Kapp offers control and breakthroughs in an equal measure.
The Spin department will be based strongly on the non-Kuleko Mlaba, which has 36 counters in 35 ODI, including 4/33 against the Antilles. South African rotation stocks are in a fine goalkeeper. The Orthodox Mlaba of the left arm recently seized 4/29 against the Antilles in a T20 confrontation to strangle their execution rate. Tryon, Luus and de Klerk provide a variety: from out of spin adjustments to arm balls and occasional cutters when the conditions allow. Their spells combined under pressure could be matching matters in the slow Indian counters.
