Real betis 2 – 2 n Forest

Ange Postcoglou was denied his first victory as Boss of Nottingham Forest by a deceased Antony Equalizer in a 2-2 draw with Real Betis in the Europa League.
Forest dragged 15 minutes after their first European match for 29 years after the opening of Cedric Bakambu, but in eight minutes, the summer signature, Igor Jesus scored twice to advance his team and they could have spent in 4-1 after a dominant first half.
Postcoglou replaced midfielder Douglas Luiz with striker Dilane Bakwa in the meantime due to an injury problem and ceded control of the forest in Betis who equalized with five minutes to go through the first goal of the former goal of Manchester United Antony of the season.
The victory slipped into Forest’s hands after a superb display in the first half, but they start their European adventure with a big point in Spain. Postcoglou delivered the excitement we expect from him in the first match of his defense of the Europa League.
There were signs of angel that settled in Seville, but this first victory escapes him. He is the first permanent forest boss not to win any of his first four games since 1947.
Angel explains the substitution of Luiz
When the forest modification was carried out at the break, it seemed that Postcoglou was concerned with going after Betis cut the Spanish side open repeatedly.
However, he explained that the change, which finally cost Forest the three points, was applied rather than a tactical decision.
“Douglas felt his hamstrings, so we had to withdraw it,” said postcoglou TNT SPORTS.
On the forest losing control after the break, he added: “I guess it is what it looks like from the outside, but I really felt like we always had control in the second period and I don’t think we opened at any stage.”
Postcoglou was frustrated that his teams were not out of sight at halftime, but were proud of the performance of his team in testing conditions.
“Difficult place to come, difficult conditions. People do not achieve humidity there, how energy is,” he said.
“Our football was exceptional in the first half, the only thing I could blame is that we did not put them in bed. We should have finished them in the first half.”
How the forest let the victory escape
Betis gave Forest a nightmare start to their return to Europe when Antony chose Bakambu in the box and pulled in the roof of the net after receiving too much space. The reruns made it appear offside in the accumulation, but the objective survived a Var check.
Forest’s emphatic response to obtaining a goal was characterized by the performance of the scorer Igor Jesus, which was signed by the Brazilian Botafogo club for 10 million pounds sterling in summer.
The 24 -year -old Brazilian international scored two goals at five minutes to shoot the game in favor of the forest after the opening of Bakambu to make him look like the good deal of the window at this price.
His first goal was put in place from the bottom of the crossing of Morgan Gibbs-White on the right. Betis Natan’s defender fell asleep while the attacker rushed to the rear post to equalize the scoring.
Igor Jesus then gilded on the defense of Betis from the corner of Luiz to put the forest before. Forest had the impression of scoring with each attack that followed, but this third crucial goal escaped them.
Callum Hudson-Odoi had the best chances because he failed to put the ball in an empty net at the rear post from a corner. Igor Jesus was there for the rebound but could not push the ball either on the line.
Luiz’s withdrawal from the break saw Gibbs-White entering a central role after playing right for the first half. Boutis boss Manuel Pellegrini made a triple change of his own and the game turned, the forest was suddenly more numerous in central areas.
The Spanish team directed the game, but had trouble carving out clear chances until the end of the replacement Marc Roca found Antony at the rear post with a cross. He retaliated through the goal with an intelligent finish, leaving the forest goalkeeper Matz Sals without any chance.
The former Manchester United winger ended the evening with a goal and help to refuse Forest a start of the dream when they returned to Europe.
Analysis: Igor Jesus doing business to move wood
The status of Chris Wood as an attacker of Forest’s first choice is questioned when Postcoglou succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo. There was an expectation in some quarters that he would prefer a more mobile attacker, but Wood has kept his place in the League so far.
It would have been difficult to move the surprise pack of last season after returning from 20 goals to the league. There was no urgent reason for Postcoglou to change. Now Igor Jesus strikes the door with more than only one.
The Brazilian scored twice in each of his first departures. You might be forgotten against the Swansea championship in the Carabao Cup, but not in its beginnings in Europe. No other player achieved this feat in the history of Forest.
Igor Jesus offered much more than his objectives in Seville and he said when he was replaced by his compatriot signed in summer Arnaud Kalimuendo. Forest lost their presence at the top, which only helped Betis come back to the game.
It will be difficult for PostCoglou to drop him for Saturday’s home match against Sunderland in the Premier League, live Sky Sports. The coach needs a victory, and Igor Jesus seems the most likely player to deliver him.
