Raven Symoné recently praised Bill Cosby for bringing change to the entertainment industry.
THE Cheetah girls The star shared her thoughts on one of her early mentors, Bill, during the latest episode of I hate to say it to you podcast.
The American actress, who starred on Bill’s series The Cosby Show at the age of three, has made rare comments about her former co-star’s sexual assault cases.
“He was accused of some horrible cases,” the 39-year-old said.
Raven said: “That doesn’t excuse anything, but it’s his personal matter. [life].”
“So personally, keep that there, and from a business perspective, also know what he did there,” remarked the The Raven’s House star.
During the conversation, the actress also highlighted the importance of comedians’ contributions to the television industry.
She credited Bill for integrating black people into the industry behind the camera that is now “mandated.”
“But back then, especially on a black show, it was very important to see yourself not only in front of the camera, but also behind the camera, and Mr. Cosby instilled that in all of us,” Raven explained.
Interestingly, Raven explained that Bill’s stance on having black crew members behind the scenes was so “meaningful” to her that she supported more diversity on her own shows, including the It’s so Raven spin-off, The Raven’s House“.
“I took it to Disney and took it everywhere I went afterward, even though it wasn’t the norm,” she continued.
