Rangers appoint Rohl as new manager

Rangers have appointed former Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl as their new manager.
The 36-year-old initially ruled himself out of the race to become Russell Martin’s successor last week, when Kevin Muscat appeared to be the favorite, but has now signed a two-and-a-half year contract at Ibrox.
He told the club website: “It is a huge privilege to take on the role of head coach at such an incredible club, recognized around the world.
“I know it has been a difficult start to the season, but there is still a lot to play for in four competitions, and my staff and I will do everything we can to reward the supporters and the club.”
Rohl took charge of Sheffield Wednesday in October 2023, becoming the youngest manager in the English Football League.
Rohl guided the Owls to safety before leading them to a mid-table finish in 12th the following season, but left over the summer amid financial uncertainty and ownership issues at Hillsborough.
Martin’s tenure at Ibrox lasted just 17 matches, leaving Rangers eighth in the table after one win in six. The club also suffered a heavy 9-1 aggregate defeat to Club Brugge in Champions League qualifying and suffered defeats in both of their Europa League matches.
