The Yemen Houthis confirmed that an Israeli air strike had killed the Prime Minister of the Government of the group in the capital, Sanaa.

Ahmed al-Rahawi was killed in a strike Thursday in Sanaa with a number of ministers, the rebels announced on Saturday in a statement.

Al-Rahawi, who was Prime Minister of the Government led by Houth in the regions of the divided country which she has controlled since August 2024, was targeted with other members of the government, who were also killed, during a routine workshop held by the government to assess its activities and performance in last year, said the declaration of the rebels.

The Israeli army attacked Sanaa on Thursday as the region’s tensions continue to degenerate in the middle of the War of Israel against Gaza.

The Israeli army said in a statement that its forces struck on Thursday “a military target of the Houthi terrorist regime in the Sanaa region in Yemen”.

Israel has repeatedly targeted the Houthi positions in recent months when the group has launched attacks on Israel and Western ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.

The group has repeatedly said that Israeli attacks on Yemen would not dissuade the military operations of the Houthis in favor of the Palestinians.

The political branch of the Houthis stressed that its government and institutions are still able to perform tasks after the members of the cabinet were murdered by Israel.

“The blood of the great martyrs will be fuel and a motivator to continue on the same path,” said the presidency of Houthis in his press release.

“We affirm to our great yemeni people, to the sounds of the oppressed palestinian people, to all the sounds of our nation, and to all the free people in the world, that we are continuing in our original stance in supporting and aiding the sounds of Gaza, and Building our armed forces and developing Challenges and Dangers, as is the Stance of our Great Yemeni People, present in All Fields and Arenas with any determination, will and faith.

Friday, the Israeli media reported, citing anonymous sources, that the Israeli army attacked the entire Houthi cabinet, including the Prime Minister and 12 other ministers, who were all killed in Thursday strikes on Sanaa.

The Houthis did not confirm the total number of people killed.

Thursday’s attack occurred four days after the Israeli strikes on Sanaa killed 10 people and injured more than 90 years, according to health officials.

The Israeli army said that on Sunday, it targeted the Houthi military sites, including the presidential palace.

On Wednesday, the Houthis claimed the responsibility of a missile attack against southern Israel, which Israel said that he had intercepted.

The Yemeni group controls large parts of Yemen, which has been seized by war since 2014.
