Prince Harry crosses the Mines field in Angola, continuing the plaid of Diana

Prince Harry crossed a mines field in Angola on Wednesday, going back to The historic walk of the land of Princess Diana 28 years ago.
The Duke of Sussex visited Angola in southern Africa with the Halo Trust organization, the same group with which her deceased mother worked when she went to Angola in January 1997, seven months before she was killed in a car accident in Paris.

Diana’s advocacy, as well as images of his walk in a mines field, helped to mobilize the support of a prohibition of terrestrial mines which was later ratified that year.

Harry crossed a field of terrestrial mines near a village of Cuito Cuanavale in the south of Angola which was authorized by Halo Trust. He visited the same area in 2013 when the mines were still active, said the charity.
It was not the first mines of Angola Harry crossed. He also put on the blue Trust blue body vest in a field of terrestrial mines For an awareness campaign in 2019.
Harry spoke to families on Wednesday who live near the Mines field.
“Children should never have to live in the fear of playing outside or walking in school,” he said. “Here in Angola, more than three decades later, the remains of war are still threatening lives every day.”

Land mines across Angola were left from his civil war from 27 years from 1975 to 2002. The Halo Trust claims that at least 60,000 people have been killed or injured by land mines since 2008. He indicates that he has located and destroyed more than 120,000 land mines and 100,000 other explosive devices in Angola since he started working in the country in 1994, but 1,000 authorized.
