PPRA leads to more than 10,000 professionals while digital governance pushes the momentum

Karachi: The public provides Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has trained more than 10,000 professionals in terms of commissioning and regulatory compliance, aligning the government’s desire for digital governance and transparency.
The milestone was announced by the Director General of the PPRA, Hasnat Ahmed Qureshi, when launching a professional diploma of four months in public procurement and contract management at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad. Now in its second batch, the program – managed in collaboration with the NUST professional development center – has registered more than 70 participants, including civil servants, suppliers and professionals in the development sector. The modules cover legal frameworks, electronic operations via the E-PAK acquisition and elimination system (EPAD), contract management and international standards, including supply and PPP models funded by donors.
Qureshi said that supply cells have been created in the Ministries of the Prime Minister’s directives, those responsible receiving targeted training in the E-PADS and PPRA protocols. “To meet market demand, the PPRA extends its training to the national level to improve professional capacity at all stages of the supply cycle,” he added. It urged public sector institutions to engage in the program to strengthen compliance, efficiency and transparency in accordance with international best practices.
Qureshi also underlined the performance of the electronic process platform, which would have made cost savings from 10 to 25% and an ease of facility to do business. The platform now supports more than 28,000 registered suppliers, including 400 foreign companies, and is actively used by 700 federal agencies, 5,000 based in Punjab and 200 agencies based in Sindh.
