Man United are now unbeaten in their last five matches, although they will feel they should have beaten Tottenham on Saturday, rather than settling for a 2-2 draw in north London.
Ruben Amorim’s men led 1-0 until the 84th minute, but after conceding twice in succession they found themselves 2-1 before a late goal from Matthijs de Ligt secured them a share of the spoils. But before Tottenham’s two goals, they had great chances of finding the back of the net, with both falling to Benjamin Sesko.
Benjamin Sesko criticized for poor finishing for Man United
At 1-0 and then 1-1, Sesko had big chances to score, but each time he failed to shoot in time, something for which he was criticized on the BBC’s Match of the Day by Alan Shearer, according to Football Insider.
“Sesko struggled again. He came on today with just over half an hour to go, had two very good chances and should have scored, to be honest. I know he’s struggling to gain confidence, but (when he scores on goal) I don’t think he has any idea what he wants to do. Those are two chances at this level that we have to put aside. We have to do better.”
Sesko’s second chance was stopped by a brilliant challenge from Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven, but it left the Slovenia international unable to see out the remaining minutes. He appears to have injured his knee, which could lead to a sideline – especially if Amorim’s comments on the situation are anything to go by.
It remains to be seen whether Sesko is injured. If he is, it would be a huge blow to Man United, regardless of their below-par form this season.
