India had already given South Africa a huge 288-run lead on day three in Guwahati, which provided the perfect door for Vaughan to fire a comeback over Jaffer. Notably, Marco Jansen destroyed the Indian batting order with a spell that could have sealed the match for the Proteas team in Guwahati. Jansen picked up six wickets for just 48 runs, tearing apart India’s middle and lower order.
His victims included Dhruv Jurel for a duck, captain Rishabh Pant for 7, Ravindra Jadeja for 6, Nitish Reddy for 10, Kuldeep Yadav for 19 and Jasprit Bumrah for 5.
Alongside Jansen, South African spinner Simon Harmer added more pressure with three wickets for 64 as the hosts failed to fight back in the ongoing final Test.

Marco Jansen’s fate leaves India desperate in Guwahati
Meanwhile, Marco Jansen produced one of the deadliest spells ever seen by a fast bowler visiting India. The young all-rounder almost single-handedly dragged South Africa to the brink of a rare Test series victory on Indian soil. It was a shocking collapse as India looked strong at one point.
At 95 for 1, the Indian innings looked steady and under control. But everything changed once Jansen returned for his second stint. From then on, India collapsed dramatically, losing six wickets for just 27 runs. Now all of India’s hopes of leveling the Test series were gone.
Jansen used the short ball as a weapon, knocking down batters one after another. He picked up four wickets with bouncers alone, and that is a rare achievement in India, where pitches generally favor spin and slow movement. In fact, no bowler has taken so many wickets with bouncers in a single innings in India.
