Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley unveil the first trailer for “Hamnet”

Hamnet starring Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley released its first trailer.
The film is based on the bestselling novel by Maggie O’Farrell.
Directed by Academy Award winner Chloe Zhao, the main cast includes Paul Mescal as Shakespeare and Jessie Buckley as his wife, renamed Agnes in the book and film.
Emily Watson and Joe Alwyn also star in the film.
The film is about Agnes struggling to come to terms with the loss of her only son, Hamnet which ultimately inspired the classic piece of literature, Hamlet.
Earlier this year, the film won the top prize at the Toronto International Film Festival, known as the People’s Choice Award.
During the acceptance speech, the director said: “I would like to share that I was very lonely when I was young.”
“And I wrote stories and I drew manga, and I put them on the Internet so I could read comments and reactions from strangers,” she added. “Whether they liked them or not, I felt connected to them, and suddenly the world is a little less lonely and life seems to have more meaning.”
Hamnet will be released in select theaters on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, then makes its world premiere on December 12.
