Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman was fined 10 percent of his match fee for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka on November 29.The violation relates to Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, regarding dissent from a referee’s decision in an international match.“A demerit point has been added to Zaman’s disciplinary record, for whom this was the first offense in a 24-month period,” the ICC said in a statement.

The incident took place in Pakistan’s 19th over when Zaman engaged in a lengthy argument with the on-field umpires over his decision to dismiss the wicket.“Zaman admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Reon King of the Emirates ICC International Match Referees Panel, so there was no need for a formal hearing.”The accusation was made by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Asif Yaqoob, as well as third umpire Rashid Riaz and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi. Reon King of the Emirates ICC International Match Referees Panel proposed the sanction.For Level 1 offenses, sanctions range from a formal reprimand to a maximum of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, plus one or two demerit points.In the match, Pakistan achieved a comfortable six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka to win the Tri-series. Sri Lanka were restricted to 114 runs, thanks to three wickets each of Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz.Babar Azam remained unbeaten with 37 runs, while Saim Ayub contributed 36 runs to successfully reach the target.Pakistan have been in exceptional form this year, winning 21 of 34 T20 international matches, marking their highest number of wins in a calendar year.
