PSL confirms Mustafizur Rahman signing after IPL rejection

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s contract was canceled by the Kolkata Knight Riders after the BCCI issued a directive following anti-Bangladesh campaigns in the country and threats made against KKR, which could jeopardize the safety of so many cricketers for just one cricketer, Rahman.

The PSL took this opportunity gracefully and introduced Rahman for the first time in the PSL after his exit from the IPL. The Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB board confirmed Rahman’s signing to the PSL.

“Hitters better shake carefully…it goes to Fizz in the #NewEra. Mustafizur Rahman joins HBL PSL 11!” the league wrote.

PSL likely to target many unsold players in IPL

The Pakistan Super League will be playing its 11th edition and the window had to be shifted again due to the clash with the ICC T20 World Cup, following which it will now clash with the original IPL window.

The IPL mini-auction marked the failure of several important players to be sold. One of the names that comes to mind is New Zealand star cricketer Devon Conway. Conway has shown great form since then and will also be part of New Zealand’s T20I campaign in India and the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Excellent players who were overlooked in the IPL can get their valuable contracts in the PSL. The Pakistan Super League is still developing and attracting several global talents; However, the IPL remains the most prestigious and financially valuable league in the world.

Bangladesh government orders ban on IPL broadcasts in the country

After Mustafizur Rahman’s exclusion from the IPL, Bangladesh government officials acting as advisors to the BCB ordered the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Bangladesh to suspend the broadcast of IPL matches in the country.

They objected that no logical reason had been given for Mustafizur’s refusal, an action that hurt and agitated the people of Bangladesh. Therefore, under such circumstances, the broadcast of the IPL will remain suspended until further orders from the government or the BCB. The IPL 2026 season is scheduled to begin on March 26.
