Oscar Piastri de McLaren, Lando Norris to start 1-2 at Spanish GP

[US, Mexico & Canada customers only] May 25, 2025; Monaco; Lando Norris de McLaren famous after winning the Monaco Grand Prix alongside third place Oscar in McLaren at the Monaco circuit.

Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris captured places 1-2 in qualifying on Saturday for the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1, giving McLaren domination in the front row.

PiaStri has ahead of his teammate at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit by two tenths of a second, the biggest margin of the season, for the Sunday race.

Max Verstappen de Red Bull is qualified third, followed by George Russell from Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton de Ferrari and Kimi Antonelli de Mercedes.

For Piastri, quadruple winner this season, it’s his fourth pole.

“It’s going to be interesting tomorrow and I’m pretty happy to start from pole,” said the 24 -year -old Australian. “It is obviously a long race to shoot 1, so [I’ve] I have to make sure to try to take a good start tomorrow. “”

“But I am very proud of the work accomplished today and I start in the best place, so I cannot thank the team enough and I hope we can have fun tomorrow.”

Norris, of England, said that his own mistakes had led to his post No. 2.

“Oscar has driven very well. I think the pace is definitely there, just a few small errors,” said Norris, 25.

“I did not do it, and Oscar, as I said, led well all weekend, so a good result for the team, a nice 1-2 and an interesting start for tomorrow.”

Piastri leads the driver’s ranking with 161 points, followed by Norris (158) and Verstappen (136).

On the team side, McLaren has a huge advantage over Mercedes, 319 to 147 points.

Norris will seek his second consecutive victory, after winning last week in Monte Carlo.
