OPENAI announced the launch of the parental command in Chatgpt on the phone and the browser on Monday, after a trial brought by the parents of a teenager who tried to commit suicide after the cat cat suggested a method of self -harm.
Orders allow parents and adolescents to opt for stronger guarantees by connecting their accounts, where a party sends an invitation and parental controls only activates if the other accepts, said the company.
American regulators are increasingly examining AI companies on the potential negative impacts of chatbots. In August, Reuters reported how Meta’s, opened new Tab Ai rules allowed severe conversations with children.
As part of the new measures, parents will be able to reduce exposure to sensitive content, control if Chatgpt remembers past cats and decide whether conversations can be used to train OPENAI models, said the company supported by Microsoft on X.
Parents will also be allowed to define silent hours that block access during certain periods and to deactivate vocal mode as well as image generation and publishing, said Openai. However, parents will not have access to the cat transcriptions of a teenager, added the company.
In rare cases where trained systems and examiners detect signs of a serious security risk, parents can be informed with only the information necessary to support the security of the adolescent, said Openai, adding that they will be informed that if a teenager releases the accounts.
OPENAI, which has about 700 million weekly active users for its chatgpt products, builds an age prediction system to help them predict if a user is under 18 so that the chatbot can automatically apply adolescent parameters.
Meta had also announced the new guarantees of teenagers to its AI products last month. The company said that it would form systems to avoid severe conversations and discussions on self -control or suicide with minors and temporarily restricts access to certain IA characters.
