Pickford to stay at Everton until 2029 after signing new contract

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has signed a new four-year contract with the club.
Pickford joined Everton from boyhood club Sunderland in 2017 and has since made 326 appearances for the Toffees.
England’s first-choice goalkeeper is now under contract until 2029, with his new deal adding two more years to his stay at the club.
“I’m delighted,” he told Evertonv. “I’m delighted to get it done – it’s two more years, so four years in total. I’m over the moon and it gives me the opportunity to build a legacy here, to move forward and build this club to where we want to be.
“Everton is a really special club to me. Coming from Sunderland as a young boy and becoming a man here, it’s been a special time for me and my family.
“I think everyone has seen the changes and how I have developed over time, but I am still that boy who likes to keep the ball out of the net. It was Everton who helped me develop and a lot of hard work has been done as well.
“It’s always felt natural to me, with the fans and the passion – it’s unrivaled and something I enjoy. It’s been a mega journey so far.”
Pickford in search of Everton silverware
Everton got off to a good start to life at Hill-Dickinson Stadium after bidding farewell to Goodison Park.
They are yet to lose in their new home, and Pickford believes there are exciting times ahead.
“I think the dark days are behind us and now it’s about building that momentum as a team and a club,” Pickford said. “I think that’s really the whole deal.
“The new owners have come in and shown that they want to move us forward, the manager since his arrival has shown that too, as well as us as players on the pitch.
“The manager wanted us to continue our form [from the end of last season] in this one and it will continue to push us.
“We’ve started well and we want to continue the momentum and get Everton Football Club back to a team that competes in Europe. We know it’s difficult to do but it’s a journey we want to continue and it’s hard work we will do as a club.
“We want to have that direction and hopefully one day we will win some silverware as well.”
