The leak reveals that Grok could soon change your spreadsheets

The disclosed code suggests that XAI develops an advanced file editor for Grok with a leaf support, signaling the company’s thrust to compete with Openai, Google and Microsoft by integrating AI co -pilots into productivity tools.

“You can talk to Grok and ask him to help you at the same time as you change the files!” Writes Nima Owji, research engineer, who has disclosed the observation.

Techcrunch contacted XAI to confirm the results and learn more.

XAI has not explicitly detailed his strategy to continue the interactive and multimodal workspaces of AI, but he abandoned a series of announcements that indicate how the company reflects on these tools. In April 2025, XAI launched Grok Studio, a shared screen workspace that allows users to collaborate with Grok on the generation of documents, code, reports and browser games. He also launched the possibility of creating workspaces that allow you to organize files and conversations in one place.

While Openai and Microsoft have similar tools, Google’s Gemini workspace for sheets, documents and Gmail seems to be the most similar to what XAI would have built. Google tools can change documents and sheets and allow you to chat with Gemini while looking or modifying documents. The difference is that Gemini Workspace only works in Google’s ecosystem.

It is not clear what files of files, the XAI publisher, could take into account calculation sheets, or if XAI plans to create a complete productivity series which could compete with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.

If Owji’s conclusions are true, the advanced publisher would be a step towards Elon Musk’s ambitions to transform X into a “application everything that includes documents, cats, payments and social media.”
