Oliver Glasner leaves Crystal Palace amid Man United links

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave the club this summer informing them he will not sign a new contract.

Our sources tell us that Glasner is the favorite for the Manchester United job after an impressive spell at Selhurst Park, and it is now confirmed that he will be available.

The Austrian tactician is one of several candidates Man Utd will consider, but he has an excellent pedigree having already succeeded in the Premier League.

Glasner has made Palace a much more consistent first-half team and notably helped the south London club win silverware for the first time ever last season with a 1-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Glasner confirmed today: “A decision has already been made, months ago. I had a meeting with Steve [Parish] in October, the international break.

“We had a very long discussion and I told him that I will not sign a new contract. We agreed at the time that it was best to keep this between us. This is the best we can do and keep this confidential for three months.

“But now it’s important to have clarity, and we had a very busy schedule, that’s why we didn’t want to talk about it. Steve and I want the best for Crystal Palace.”

Should Oliver Glasner be the next Manchester United manager?

Glasner leaving Palace is surely no surprise, as he appears to be capable of making the step up to a bigger club.

United are in need of a new manager after recently sacking Ruben Amorim, with former player Michael Carrick appointed as caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Glasner looks like he might have the qualities to help United improve after their recent struggles, but of course it’s always difficult to predict how a manager will cope with the pressure of such a prestigious position.
