Nobody wants that Season 2 seems to have fallen flat despite fans’ emotional investment in the story, exciting guest appearances, and the Hot Rabbi’s charm.
The sequel was released on October 23, which excited fans eager to binge-watch it, but reviews generally weren’t very positive.
While the first season created a separate, part funny, part charming bond between the main characters, season 2 seems to prolong that without any progress in their dynamic or personality.
Many fans have expressed that it seems the writers changed for this season due to the main focus on moral lessons in each episode and lackluster humor, which could not compete with the previous season.
“Was there a different writer for this season? This season was pretty bad compared to the first season,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
Another added: “Season 2 had a really poor storyline with no character growth. Same story arc as season 1. I was hoping to see Joanne’s conversion, their marriage, or her complete departure. Season 2 also lacked the funny sister, friend, and podcast moments that made the show light. This season seemed stiff and serious in comparison.”
Agreeing with the common criticisms, a third chimed in: “I feel like there just wasn’t the same heart as in season 1. Also the writing definitely wasn’t as cohesive, it seemed really strained” and “It seemed like a filler season to get to season 3,” another wrote.
Viewers also shared their frustration with the season’s short length, writing: “They crammed so much into this SHORT season, that it felt choppy, rushed and was never fleshed out. The stories have arcs – they weren’t arcs, they just went from one character feeling one way to the same character suddenly feeling the opposite in half an episode/one episode maximum. “
One noted: “You just repeated season 1 with slightly different storylines. It was disappointing.”
The series has not yet been renewed for another season, but it is expected to return for season 3, and maybe fans will get their complaints answered.
