Nissan remembers almost half a million cars – and the defect is so serious that some may need new engines

  • Nissan remembers almost half a million cars due to a defect that could cause engine failure. Some vehicle owners could receive new engines following the recall. Nissan will determine how many engines are replaced after inspections by service technicians. The owners will be informed from August 25.

The owners of certain Nissan and Infiniti vehicles could be eligible for a new engine in their car, due to a defect which caused a reminder of the automaker.

Nissan recalls 443,899 vehicles after discovering that their VC Turbo engines could fail. The recall includes 2021-2024 Nissan Rogues, Nissan Altimas 2019-2020, 2019-2022 Infiniti QX50S and 2022 Infiniti QX55S. All affected vehicles have variable compression motors variable compression of 2.5 liters or 4 cylinders with 3 cylinders.

Some of the engines suspect Nissan, had a manufacturing defect in their bearings which could cause engine failure.

Before the owners could obtain a replacement engine, Nissan asks the owners to take them to their dealer for an inspection. There, the service technicians will remove and inspect the oil pots for debris. If they find it, Nissan will repair or replace the engine.

If no debris will be found, the dealers will replace the engine oil (and, in the case of 1.5 -liter 3 -cylinder vehicles, the oil casing seal as well as the reprogramming of the engine control module) and send you on your way.

The Nissan Rogue is the most affected of the four cars. Over half a million cars recalled, 348,554 are thugs.

The company will start to inform the dealerships on July 15 and the owners of the car from August 25. Owners with questions can contact Nissan at 800-647-7261.
