Newcastle could be confronted with UEFA fines due to excessive expenses

The return of the Newcastle United Champions League could now cost due to the losses recorded.

The club is expected to be struck by UEFA sanctions after excessive expenses during the surveillance period of 2022-2025.

Under the Premier League regulations, the teams can lose up to 105 million pounds sterling over three years, but UEFA does not reluctance this allowance at 52 million pounds sterling. According to The Athletic, Newcastle has “comfortably violated” this European limit, leaving the club prepared for punishment similar to those previously published in Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Some of the sales of their key players will not change the Newcastle deficit. The move from Allan Saint-Maximin of 23 million pounds sterling in Al-Ahli is excluded from the evaluation of UEFA because of the links of the two clubs with the public investment fund of Saudi Arabia, while the change of Elliot Anderson to the Nottingham forest has as a swap involving Odyseas Vlachodimos.

For the 2023-2024 season, Newcastle reported heavy losses of 38 million pounds in front taxes, mainly due to heavy expenses during the 2022-23 campaign to strengthen the Eddie Howe team.

Even if Newcastle sanctioned a record sale of 130 million pounds sterling for the sale of Alexander Isak in Liverpool, it is unlikely that it completely protects them from punishment. However, the benefit will soften the UEFA decision.

Chelsea and Aston Villa were punished

Previously, UEFA showed their rigor in excessive expenditure. Chelsea was sentenced to a fine of 27 million pounds sterling in advance, with an additional penalty of 52 million pounds sterling suspended under a compliance agreement of four years, while Aston Villa was accosted of 9.5 million pounds sterling with 13 million pounds additional sterling that hang them.

Newcastle is now in a similar situation, and it will be interesting to see if they are given a heavy fine by UEFA. They seek to build a formidable team capable of fighting regularly for trophies, but they must be careful with their expenses. Isak’s departure will certainly strengthen its finances for future windows, and this will allow them to properly improve the team.
