IND vs PAK: Kanishk Chouhan’s all-round show thrills Pakistan as India claim 90-run win in U19 Asia Cup

NEW DELHI: India registered a 90-run win over Pakistan in their Under-19 Asia Cup Group A match on Sunday, thanks to an excellent bowling display led by Kanishk Chouhan and Deepesh Devendran.India batted first after being introduced and scored 240 runs in 46.1 overs. Aaron George led the batting with a good 85, while captain Ayush Mhatre contributed 38 and Chouhan added 46 runs.
Pakistan were unsuccessful in their run, being dismissed for 150 runs in 41.2 overs while chasing a target of 241.Indian captain Mhatre provided a fast start, hitting four boundaries and three sixes in his 25-ball innings before Mohammad Sayyam removed the first two in the first 10 overs.Aaron George anchored the innings effectively, finding regular boundaries and providing stability. Chouhan’s late contribution, including three sixes, helped India reach 230 despite regular wicket falls.Pakistan’s bowling effort was led by Sayyam taking 3 wickets for 67 runs and Abdul Subhan claiming 3 for 42. Niqab Shafiq supported with two wickets.Pakistan’s chase started poorly as they lost four wickets for just 30 runs, with Devendran taking three quick wickets.Captain Farhan Yousaf scored 23 runs and partnered Huzaifa Ahsan before Chouhan’s off-spin broke their partnership. Ahsan top-scored with 70 runs from 83 balls, but could not find support from the other batsmen.Chouhan finished with 3 wickets for 33 runs, while Devendran took 3 wickets for 16 runs, helping India maintain control throughout the match.Following the protocol observed during the recent 2025 Asia Cup, where Indian players refused to receive the winner’s trophy from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, players from both teams did not shake hands during the toss or after the match.
