Need a horror film full of twists and turns? Watch this free futuristic movie on Tubi

When it comes to watching horror movies, one of my favorite sub-genres is the horror of science fiction. Give me the terror of deep space, futuristic worlds where things have turned terribly, and spatial vessels larger than life where the crews are trapped with unspeakable horrors. Although Alien is the most popular film of this kind, there are incredible science fictional-fiction films that are only waiting to be discovered.

One of my favorites is pandorum. Released in 2009, it is a claustrophobic trip to the space in which a mechanic wakes up on a colony ship to see that things went very badly. There is an abandoned spacecraft, terrible things chasing in the corridors and a mystery taking place in the bowels of the ship. It gives off large vibrations of dead space, and it is an underestimated classic.

It is streaming for free on Tubi at the moment.

Pandorum captures the terrifying sensation of a broken ship, the fear of being surrounded by a shell where only space awaits outside and a world that juxtaposes body horror and existential fear. His cinematographic style caught my attention and made me look, even when I wanted to look away.

The corporal Bower (played by Ben Foster) wakes up from Cryo-Sleep with a disturbing case of amnesia. Almost immediately, it is clear that things did not go to plan Elysium, the ship of the colony carrying 60,000 humans of a overcrowded land to a new world. The machine surrounding it is degraded, the power continues to vacillate and it seems to be entirely alone.

Bower is soon joined by Lieutenant Payton (played by Dennis Quaid), an officer who also wakes up from Cryo-Sleep without any response. After the two manage to activate the auxiliary power, they decide to go to the bridge to understand what is happening. Bower manages to escape the cryogenic to note that the rest of the ship is in an even worse state.

Bower and Nadia sit together.

Bower must come together with other survivors to support the madness of Elysium.

On a ship that has spent its original humanitarian mission from settling a new planet, it is accosted by creatures that vaguely resemble people, as well as humans who are fighting to survive. Bower finds two companions – a member of the agricultural team who does not speak English but has driven out the predatory creatures, and Nadia, an environment scientist.

The three go to the ship’s reactor to reset the power and operate everything so that they can decipher what happened and why. Along the way, they meet a summary survivor who tells them that things collapsed when the bridge received bad news from the earth and was exceeded by Pandorum, a discomfort inflicted on space which can cause a psychosis, triggered by strong emotional states.

At the same time, Lieutenant Payton, who was left in the cryogenic chamber, finds another survivor who seems to have difficulties of pandorum and tells Payton what really happened on the deck. Payton tries to calm the survivor, but it only seems to worsen, the more they speak. Payton pushes him into a cryo sleep pod to prevent him from wreaking havoc, while he continues to talk about Bower through what he has to do to restart the reactor and make the ship operate again.

Lieutenant Payton is sitting on a chair while chaos bursts around him.

Lieutenant Payton is trying to help Bower, but may need to help himself.

Pandorum’s atmosphere is perfect for all those who love the hard horror of science fiction. With an imposing and collapsed spacecraft like the main whole, the winding and claustrophobic passages, and a world that evolves in the metal walls, this film infused on hard land less than 2 hours. The hidden possibility of Pandor distress everyone’s perspective, the monsters in the walls and the tragedy that launched everything works together to offer an adventure full of thrill full of dread.

The third act of Pandorum is when everything degenerates and secrets is revealed – the truth of the bridge, where the ship was piloted, and what then comes for survivors on board – but you will have to monitor yourself to discover what is happening on Elysium.

Pandorum was not a success when it was released, but 16 years later, it is always a fantastic example of the kind of science fiction, and it offers a lot of twists and turns. Broad it for free on Tubi and find out what Elysium is hiding today.
