So, it’s been weeks since the IPL trade deal between RR and CSK, for Sanju Samson first came to light. Various reports suggested that the move could happen anytime, but now it seems, it is a stalemate between the two franchises. As per a fresh report in Cricbuzz, what perhaps led to a setback in talks was — RR wanted either Ravindra Jadeja or Ruturaj Gaikwad for their team, but it was a deal-breaker for Chennai.

The name of Shivam Dube also came up, but then it is not CSK policy to trade their players. Now, Sanju Samson could only go to the Yellows, if another rounds of negotiations take place, or through the IPL 2026 auction. Having said that, there is no guarantee, that the player’s name will even come in the auction.

There are other interested parties too. It seems team owner is already in talks with multiple other deals for Sanju, and most likely, some should be able to bag him. That solely depends on the player on offer, or the money involved. Just for the record, the current RR skipper was retained for INR 18 Cr by the franchise.

What has also come to light is, that Sanju might continue to stay at RR as well, if no solid deal comes their way. And the player doesn’t have any say in all of this. In all this, the Kerala keeper-batter had clarified in a podcast with R Ashwin, that the team means the world to him. They duo did discuss the IPL trade deal, but it was all in banter.

All-in-all, Sanju is a hot commodity right now, and be it through trade or through auction, he could very well go on to fetch a price more than Rishabh Pant — INR 27 Cr — if there is more than one party interested in him.
