Mistral’s cat adds an in -depth research agent and a vocal mode to challenge the domination of the OpenAi company

Since Openai introduced in -depth research, an AI agent who can conduct research for users and generate a full report, many other companies have publishedEIR own versions of this capacity, all named in depth of research.
Deep research, as functionality and product, can be accessible via various platforms, including Gemini from Google, AlphaSense, You.com, Deepseek, Grok 3 and many others. Now, the French company Mistral joins the fray with the launch of deep research capacities in its cat Le Chat, among other updates of the platform.
In a blog article, the company said that Deep Research and other new features will make the cat “even more capable, more intuitive and more fun”.
Cat users can open the search mode and ask him for something. The chatbot then asks questions to clarify certain information, then begins to collect sources. It will set up “a structured report and supported by reference which is easy to follow”.

Mistral said that his research was propelled by an in -depth research agent, which he designed to be “really useful” and wants to work with an organized research partner.
In -depth research was called “the first AI of the mass market which could move jobs”, especially since it can publish reports faster than human analysts.
Mistral has also updated the “mode of reflection”, where cat users can access the masterful model of the company’s chain of thoughts, to read and respond in different languages. He can also the code switch to mid-term.
Image edition based on prompts and other features
For people who create images on the cat application, they can ask the chatbot to modify parts of the photo with just a prompt. Users can say something like “generating a cat drawing”, then asking the cat to “place it in Istanbul”, and that will do that exactly.
“It is ideal for making coherent modifications through a series, keeping people, objects and recognizable design elements from one image to another,” said Mistral.
Thanks to the recently published voice recognition model, VOXTRAL, the cat can now support vocal mode, where users can discuss aloud with the platform. The company said that this mode was the best for the recognition of speech to low latency and the conversational pace of someone.
The new cat’s projects feature allows users to organize conversations and related subjects into groups. Projects will use their own libraries – which may include downloaded files – and will keep favorite tools and parameters. This is similar to Google NoteBooklm.
Play the catch -up
Many new cat features may seem familiar. It is normal for other cat platforms to introduce similar features, especially when people start to expect these capacities when using cat systems.
For example, Gemini and Chatgpt allow users to modify generated photos using an prompt. Sometimes chatbots understand and redo the whole image. However, I recently generated and modified a photo with chatgpt, and the chatbot deleted exactly what I wanted.
Vocal mode has been available on Chatgpt since September 2024, although Chatgpt still includes a “READ high” feature. Project Astra from Google has brought the vocal mode to a new level, demonstrating in a demo that users can report something in the physical world to Gemini and ask it to describe it aloud.
However, Mistral has the advantage of being based in Europe and can bring characteristics directly to the European market. Companies and OpenAi often find it difficult to provide certain services, such as the advanced Chatgpt vocal mode, in Europe due to data regulations and certain provisions of the AI AI of the European Union.
Despite this, users seemed excited that Mistral has brought many powerful new cat features, some first users having seen solid performance of the in -depth research of Mistral.
