Meta enters into agreements with several press publishers for the use of AI

Meta has entered into several agreements with news publishers to help it provide real-time data for its AI chatbot services, . The commercial deals will allow its Meta AI chatbots to better respond to user queries about news and current affairs.
These are multi-year agreements where publishers will be paid for the use of their content, but we have no monetary specifics. The contracts stipulate that Meta’s chatbots will link to articles when responding to news queries, potentially providing an uptick in traffic for publishers.
Media partners include The United States today, People, The World And CNN. However, many conservative media outlets are also included in today’s announcement, such as Fox News, The Daily Caller And Washington Examiner. It’s a good thing that Meta’s AI provides the aforementioned links, just in case a chatbot says something crazy about whatever absurd culture war topic is going on that day.
Meta announced that this is just the first step and that it will add more news partners to cover more stories in the future. This is an interesting decision because Meta has long opposed . It stopped paying American publishers and Facebook’s news tab.
