Meet the French chiefs who break the mold

Despite the old adage that the place of a woman is in the kitchen, the world of gastronomy tells another story. In France, while women represent 35% of professional cooking staff, only 19% of chefs are women. But a quarter of work is clearly underway with industry innovators such as Laetitia Visse, the chief and owner of the butcher’s wife in Marseille who courageously pronounced against abusive work environments; Georgiana Viou, the first woman of color and immigrant background to win a Michelin star in France, and Manon Fleury, champion of organic cuisine and female empowerment.
