Large crowds were seen Saturday in major cities like New York and Washington, D.C., and even in London, in the second “No Kings” protest since June against the Trump administration.

Although some leaders feared the protests would escalate into violence, there were no reports of violence or arrests during the afternoon rallies amid an ongoing government paralysis.

Republicans argued that the protests were simply an attempt to distract from the ongoing battle against the government shutdown and appease their base.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told FOX Business he hoped Democratic leaders in attendance would be more willing to accept the GOP plan once the protests end — but he didn’t seem too optimistic.

On Saturday in New York, the New York Police Department issued an alert saying that more than 100,000 people across the city’s five boroughs were participating, and that they did not have to make a single “protest-related” arrest.

No arrests were reported in Washington DC, although some reports said protesters briefly took to the streets.

Other major cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Boston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Portland, Oregon and Austin, also held large rallies Saturday, but police said the protests were largely peaceful.

Portland police have confirmed that at least three people have been arrested after an alleged assault linked to the “No Kings” protests downtown.

One person was arrested and detained, according to authorities. Two other people were arrested pending investigation by Portland Police Bureau officers.

Outside of Chicago, in Broadview, at least fifteen people were arrested by Illinois State Police near an ICE facility.

In Denver, police said officers dispersed a small group to block access to the highway and several arrests were made.

Arrests also took place in smaller cities in various states.

Around 2,500 “No Kings” protests took place across the United States.

The tone of Saturday’s “No Kings” protests was decidedly anti-Trump, as demonstrators rallied against what they saw as the president’s authoritarian policies.

“California will continue to peacefully fight against the Trump administration’s authoritarian takeover,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, wrote on X.

“This is a Love America rally,” said Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who spoke at the Washington rally Saturday, in response to criticism from Johnson and others.

After his speech at the Washington DC rally, Sanders thanked the “millions” of Americans who were in attendance on Saturday.
