Madonna remembers the brother’s call that led to forgiveness

The singer recently spoke of being at war with her brother for years until she finally decided to let go of the injury and forgive her shortly before her death in October 2024.

Christopher Ciccone was a dresser, an artistic director and an interior designer who also worked for Madonna. He died a year ago from the health complications caused by cancer.

Madonna appeared in the Podcast Monday episode “in purposes with Jay Shetty”, discussing her spirituality and the way forgiveness played an important role in her spiritual journey.

The 67 -year -old singer remembers looking at her brother, Christopher, like one of her “greatest enemies”, saying that she believed once she could never forgive her because she had felt betrayed by him over the years.

“There are things that happened to me in my life that I just thought:” I will never forgive this person. “Now, I don’t want to have these feelings anymore because it’s a prison and it’s poison not to be able to forgive and live in a grip or hate someone or want them to suffer,” she told the host of the Podcast.

The singer “Material Girl” admitted that she had first had trouble forgiving her brother because they are generally people she likes the most who injured her the most.

Burial in her injury, Madonna assumed that having avenging thoughts or clinging to survey would save her. However, negative feelings ended up weighing it on it and eating it alive.

She described these feelings as “toxic” and said that she was considering forgiving her, but held herself because of her ego.

Madonna also told Shetty that the turning point came when Christopher held her hand during her illness. Her call forced her to decide to continue keeping the grudge or letting things go, and she chose the latter.

The tension between Madonna and her brother comes from the moment when the latter published an autobiography entitled “Life with My Sister Madonna” in 2008. It would have caused a flaw between them because the singer would not have approved the release of the book, according to Entertainment Weekly.

However, they were able to bury the ax of war before Christopher’s death, and now Madonna even works on new music dedicated to him.

Madonna is not foreign to sorrow, because she also lost another brother in addition to Christopher.

The singer’s admission occurs more than two years after his older brother Anthony Ciccone died at the age of 66 in a nursing establishment in Michigan.

As confirmed by the explosion, Anthony died of many health complications, including oropharynx cancer, which is generally caused by smoking. According to his death certificate, the deceased brother of the singer died of respiratory failure and throat cancer.

Just like with Christopher, Madonna did not have the best relationship with Anthony either. However, she was able to repair things with him before his death and even pay her hospital bills.

After the death of Anthony, the singer “like a prayer” shared an emotional tribute to her Instagram story, thanking him for having “blown” her mind when she was still a young girl.
