Lizzo Reflects on Slow and Steady Weight Loss Journey and Embraces Her ‘Body Icon’ Status

Talk to The New York Times Last spring, Lizzo said her journey had been steady and gradual.

She has long described herself as a “body icon”, telling People this beauty comes in many forms.
“I think I have a really sexy body,” she said. “It may not be someone’s ideal body type, just like, say, Kim Kardashian may not be someone’s ideal, but she is a body icon and has created a modern beauty standard.”
Singer faces retrial over alleged unlicensed sample of unreleased song

Meanwhile, Lizzo faces another legal battle, this time from a Georgia-based company, accusing her of using an unauthorized sample in an unreleased track.
According to a complaint filed Tuesday in California, the singer presented a sample of a song, apparently titled “I’m Goin’ In Till October,” that includes elements of “Win or Lose (We Tried),” a work represented by The GRC Trust.
The clip, posted to social media in August, showed Lizzo joking about the buzz surrounding Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle campaign, even referring to the actress with the phrase “I have good jeans like I’m Sydney.”
The lawsuit claims that the underlying music sampled in this clip is owned by GRC, with Jimmy Ginn listed as the publishing owner of the track and Sam Dees credited as the original composer.

A rep for Lizzo responded by expressing surprise at the lawsuit, clarifying that the song in question “was never released or monetized.”
