Liverpool veteran hints at Anfield exit this summer

Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson will evaluate his options over the coming months.
Andy Robertson admits he hasn’t played as much as he would have liked this season and is considering leaving Liverpool this summer.
The left-back joined the Reds from Hull for £8million in 2017 and went on to enjoy a trophy-laden spell at Anfield, winning the Premier League twice as well as the FA Cup once and the Champions League in 2019.
The Scotland international has made 362 appearances for Liverpool but has had limited game time this season, starting just four Premier League matches due to the summer arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
At just 31 years old and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, he would be an attractive signing for many domestic and foreign clubs and Robertson will use the coming weeks to assess his options.
Asked if he would like to stay, he told BBC Sport: “Yes, but it’s a difficult question.
“I have five months left and we have to see what the option is to stay or if there are options to leave and things like that. I have to sit down with my family and decide.
“After a stressful summer, I’m just trying to enjoy being part of it and being a Liverpool player. I wanted to qualify for the World Cup and luckily we achieved that. I need to see what me and my family want for the future.”
Footballers want to play – Liverpool full-back Robertson
Robertson is eager to play and has suggested he has found this season difficult.
He added: “I think Jurgen Klopp left me out during a match and I was angry. So I’m a player who wants to play. I played through injuries. I played when I wasn’t 100% fit. I played when I was only 50/40/30% fit for this club and my country. I always want to be on the pitch and play and obviously now that doesn’t happen anymore, it’s which is different.
“I have a different role here this season and I’m enjoying it, but at the end of the day footballers want to play and if someone is sitting happy on the bench then they don’t belong at any football club.
“If you’re happy to be on the bench, then I don’t think you have the right attitude. I think I played well in the games I played this season. Maybe I didn’t play as much as I would have liked, but that didn’t surprise me. Let’s see what happens.”
