Lima Police Arrest Four, Disrupt Illegal Drug and Gambling Operation

In a Facebook live stream from the city government of Lima, Ohio, a multi-agency law enforcement update announced that police had arrested four people in what authorities are calling “Operation New Beginnings,” targeting illegal drug and gambling activities.
The arrests are believed to be linked to corrupt activities linked to the criminal network, according to a press release. The individuals identified are Jai’Quavius Carter, Cantrell Island, De’Jorr Gibson and Jordan Davis.
It was Tuesday, January 13, when law enforcement vehicles and officers executed nine search warrants in multiple locations.
This happened early in the morning, just before 6 a.m., with Chief Cutris Hile of the Lima Police Department confirming that some people may have seen a heavy law enforcement presence in the area.
This operation is described as a coordinated initiative aimed at disrupting drug trafficking, illegal firearms activities and illegal gambling within the community.
Lima Police Launch Operation New Beginnings
In the press release, Lima Police Chief Curtis Hile said, “This operation was intended to stop the ongoing damage and restore a sense of security to residents who make a living from this activity day in and day out.
“By dismantling this network, we removed the individuals and operations that were actively undermining our community.”
The search warrants were conducted at the following addresses: 703 Faurot Avenue, 707 Faurot Avenue, 332 South Metcalf Street, 332 ½ South Metcalf Street, 403 South Metcalf Street, 1020 Faurot Avenue, 521 East Fourth Street, 1513 West Wayne Street and 1515 Harding Highway.
Efforts during the operation resulted in four arrests, the closure of the Jackpot Zone, located at 1515 Harding Highway, following enforcement actions related to allegations of illegal gambling, the seizure of three vehicles and the recovery of two semi-automatic handguns. Further financial and evidence seizures are still being investigated.
Multiple teams were involved in the efforts, including the Lima Police Department – Investigations Division and Uniformed Officers, Lima Police Department SWAT, Lima Police Department PACE Unit, Ohio State Highway Patrol – SWAT (three teams) and Uniformed Troopers, Ohio Casino Control Commission, and the Ohio Narcotics Intelligence Center (ONIC), Ohio Department of Public Safety.
The statement said additional arrests and enforcement actions remain possible, with public safety emphasized as a top priority.
