Leverkusen confirms the signature of Spotken while Brentford brings Kelleher de Liverpool

Bayer Leverkusen finished the signature of the Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken, the bees announcing Caoimhín Kelleher as his replacement.
Flekken moves to Leverkusen as part of an agreement which is worth the value of 11 million pounds sterling, the Netherlands of the signing of a contract until June 2028. Kelleher, for his part, joined Brentford de Liverpool on a five-year agreement with an option for an additional year. Brentford would have paid the premier league champions 18 million pounds sterling for the Republic of Ireland International.
Before his move to Brentford in 2023, Flekken had spent his entire club career in Germany.
He helped Thomas Frank’s men to finish the upper half in 2024-25, but now joined a Leverkusen team in transition to a new era under Erik Ten Hag.
Two members of their double winner team of 2023-24, Jonathan Tah and Jeremie Frimpong, left the club to join Bayern Munich and Liverpool respectively. This duo followed the former coach Xabi Alonso off the door while he was taking over for Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
Liverpool is also trying to detach himself from Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen, but Flekken is delighted to go in the other direction.
He said of his move to Leverkusen: “[This is] The next special step in my career. Many games against absolutely world class players in England have increased the level of my game.
“I am very happy to be able to devote my qualities now to a German club with large national and European targets.
“I love the Bundesliga and I also look forward to playing for the Werkself in the Champions League.”
Kelleher played 67 appearances for Liverpool, her competitive debut for the coming Reds in 2019.
He kept 24 clean sheets in all the competitions in his stay in Anfield, who saw him collect the Premier League, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the Champions League and the medals of the UEFA Super Cup winners.
“I am very happy to welcome Caoimhin to Brentford,” said football director Phil Giles.
“We spotted him in the past and we were aware that he was a year to continue his contract with Liverpool this summer.
“When Mark Flekken had the opportunity to move to Bayer Leverkusen, we immediately thought of Caoimhin as his replacement.
“In addition to being a very good goalkeeper, I rarely met a player for whom everyone has such positive words to say about his personality and his character. So I am convinced that he will be an excellent addition to the team.”
