Leeds have enjoyed a resurgence in recent weeks and will hope to continue their momentum in the transfer market. Several positions are expected to be filled in Daniel Farke’s squad, one of which is in defence.

Farke’s move to three defenders was a masterstroke, but it also means Leeds need to bring in at least one extra centre-back. Links have been made with a number of possible candidates in recent weeks, and officials at Elland Road are now turning their attention to another possible option: Axel Disasi.

As reported by Football Insider, Leeds are keen to sign Disasi on loan for the second half of the season. The 27-year-old has been sent back to Chelsea’s reserves since the summer, so there would be a good chance of a deal being agreed in the coming weeks.

Chelsea have made it clear that Disasi is not being counted on, which is why they are hoping to move him away in January. They hope to agree a transfer, but given that we are mid-season, they will almost certainly have to settle for a second loan in successive campaigns, having joined Aston Villa 11 months ago.

Should Leeds complete a deal for Axel Disasi?

Disasi showed early signs of promise at Chelsea following his move from Monaco in 2023, but over the last 12-18 months he hasn’t been counted on at Stamford Bridge. Despite this, he is very capable of being a quality player in the Premier League, which would make him a good option for Leeds.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds will make a serious move to sign Disasi when the transfer window opens later this week. The aim will be to get signatures as quickly as possible, given there is only a month left to close deals.
