Las Vegas Raiders @ Denver Broncos: Preview, Predictions & Odds

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Denver Broncos Preview
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix believes their season depends on the outcome of their division matchups, starting with TNF against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Broncos have built a 7-2 record and appear well-positioned to clinch a playoff spot, but their final eight games see five meetings with AFC West teams and Nix knows things can change quickly.
“We have to win them,” he said. “Those are the ones that carry the most weight. Those are the ones we need to go out there and win to get ready for the playoffs. As a team, those are the most important to us.”
The Broncos are favorites to clinch their first division crown since 2015 and Nix admits there is a lot to play for.
“Obviously, [for] this organization, this city and these fans — [we] “I’ve been playing against these teams for a long time,” he added. “A lot of rivalries. Those are the most fun. It’s like playing a conference game in college.
“Those are the ones you look forward to. That’s what you’re a Bronco for, to beat teams like this. Like any other, it’s not going to be easy. We’re going to have to play really well. It’s going to be a fun ‘Thursday Night Football’ environment.”
The Raiders will lean on quarterback Geno Smith, who had four passing touchdowns and a 74.4 completion percentage against the Jacksonville Jaguars last time out.
But he will have to have a near-perfect night against the best pass rusher in the NFL.
“There’s a big pass rush on every defense in the NFL. And protecting our guys up front by getting the ball out, not holding on to it too long, is very important,” Smith said Tuesday.
“And it’s important that our guys follow their route and get to the points. Protection is key from the start, and then obviously, me being precise with the ball, getting it out on time and in rhythm, which allows us to be successful and to be at our best.”
