Kris Srikkanth slams the repeated selection of Harshit Rana in the Indian teams: “Be a constant yes of Gautam Gambir”

Former captain of India and ex-chair of selectors Krishnamchari Srikkanth was unleashed at the national selection committee for inclusion several times Harshit Rana In India teams through formats despite its incoherent performance. Delhi Pacer’s surprise inclusion in the Champions Trophy and the Asian Cup 2025 teams, followed by his name appearing again for the next Australian tour, has aroused a generalized debate.
The continuous inclusion of Harshit Rana in the ODI, T20i and Tests of India teams lifts eyebrows
The recent selections of teams from India have experienced a significant rotation, but Rana remains a constant element. Among all the players appointed for the next ODI and T20I series in Australia, only seven have been kept – Rana being one of them. Although it does not cement its place in any format, the continuous presence of the stimulator perplexed fans and former cricket players.
Srikkanth expressed his frustration on his YouTube channel, criticizing what he called “confusing and inconsistent” selection tactics. “By constantly doing such selections, they confused the players themselves. Even we do not know what the selection will be. Suddenly, Yashasvi Jaiswal is there, so he left. The only permanent member seems to be hard Rana. No one knows why, “ He said.
“Be a yes-man to Gambir”: the blunt remark of Srikkanth
Srikkanth went further, suggesting that Rana’s continuing selection could be due to his relations with Team India head coach Gautam Gambir. “You do not choose some players even if they occur and take others, even when they don’t do it. The best is to be like Rana – be a constant yes yes to Gambir if you want to be selected,” He joked.
He also warned that such selections could harm India long -term planning: “You should start building towards the 2027 World Cup. But with choices like Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy, you can review the trophy.”

Rana’s disappointing file so far
Rana’s ascent in the ranks was rapid but uneven. Between November 2024 and February 2025, he made his debut in the three formats. In the Border-Gavaskar trophy, he only picked up four counters in two tests. His ODI outings against England and in the Champions Trophy were also ordinary, while his ASIA CUP 2025 campaign produced only two counters in two games for 79 points.
In the Super 4 confrontation against Sri Lanka, its economy rate was criticized after conceding 54 races for a lonely window – a spell that Srikkanth had previously criticized as “reckless”.
