Manchester United central midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is now reportedly increasingly willing to leave the club permanently after falling out of favor with Ruben Amorim.
The England international is yet to start a single Premier League match this season, leading to much recent speculation over a possible loan move.
Mainoo has been linked with Chelsea, Napoli and other big clubs, and he may even now be leaving on a permanent transfer.
This is according to the Daily Mail, which reports that Mainoo is now at “breaking point” as he sees no future for himself under Amorim.
Manchester United could lose Kobbie Mainoo
Although it would have been unthinkable when Mainoo made his first breakthrough into United’s senior team, it now really looks like he could be on the verge of leaving his boyhood club.
The 20-year-old appears unable to convince Amorim that he deserves a starting spot, and it appears there will be no shortage of suitors for him.
Chelsea have been linked with Mainoo by the Telegraph in recent times, and if big clubs like this are willing to save the player and give him the game time he wants, then it’s surely a no-brainer for him to leave Old Trafford to restart his career.
Should Kobbie Mainoo be more patient in his quest for a breakthrough for United?
Mainoo is still young and inexperienced, and one could argue that he shouldn’t just look to leave the club at the first sign of trouble.
MUFC legend Roy Keane suggested on this week’s episode of Overlap that Mainoo shouldn’t necessarily expect to start every match at this stage of his career.
United are a big club and players should perhaps be ready for challenges like this, according to Keane.
Is Mainoo expecting too much or has he been treated harshly by United and Amorim? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
