It started as something of a science fiction thriller: a brilliant object in the shape of a pill hovering on the sky of New York State.
The photos captured near the finger lakes on August 12 showed a slow -moving orb wrapped in a glowing mist, causing a wave of UFO speculation in the Facebook group of a community.
Some residents have described him as “another world”, like others have commented, asking what it was.
“They are there,” joked a person.
“Really an incredible thing to assist!” Another said.

But what many thought could be an extraterrestrial visit turned out to be something less supernatural: a launch of rocket.
According to Space.com, the mysterious Orb was later confirmed as the planned launch of the Centaur vulcan by the United Launch Alliance from Cape Canvaveral, Florida.
The Pentagon did not respond to a request for comments.

“My first instinct of my scientific and military training is to seek a conventional explanation, such as a meteorological or human manufacturing explanation, because this is what many objects in the sky are,” Tim Gallaudet, Ph.D., US Navy told Fox News. “In this case, it was both.”

He underlined the critical nature of data verification during the distinction between bad civil identifications and truly unidentified abnormal phenomena (UAP).
“The main protocols consist in crossing visual observation with other data: high -resolution optics or infrared, radar, Lidar, listen to a radio or acoustic signature, and if it seems to be under intelligent control, question via VHF radio. Which will allow better characterization of the object, the size, the speed, the altitude, the storage, the composition of the materials and the intention.”

While UAP observations continue to increase, Gallaudet said that more scientific transparency and survey could help reduce both stigma and fear.

“We tend to fear the unknown, and therefore more UAP research can not only reduce the stigma associated with phenomena, but also transform their enigma status into accepted science,” he said.
