Kalshi enters into first major news partnership in collaboration with CNN

CNN and Kalshi announced a partnership that would integrate prediction market data into the news brand’s broadcast, digital and social journalism.
CNN executives and Kalshi confirmed to Axios that the news brand has partnered with Kalshi to deliver market data to its various news channels around the world. This is Kalshi’s first major media partnership, but it’s not the first time the prediction market has leaned into current affairs, with deals in place for major cultural and political events.
Tarek Mansour, CEO and co-founder of Kalshi, told the outlet that the goal of the partnership would be to allow CNN to interpret what might happen in the future, rather than past or current events. Notably, although the focus is now on CNN, he mentioned other newsrooms and journalists, suggesting that Kalshi is also considering similar partnerships with other news brands.
How will the news partnership between CNN and Kalshi work?
In practice, CNN will have access to Kalshi data via an API updated in real time. In addition to being featured on CNN via a live data feed in a way that resembles stock tracking, CNN journalists can also use this data to discuss news forecasts. Discussion topics include politics, current events, culture and even the weather.
Harry Enten, CNN’s chief data analyst, will lead the new partnership, using Kalshi’s real-time insights in his on-air reporting, both on CNN’s traditional television channels and its new streaming subscription service.
There has been no reputable poll in the past year in which Pete Hegseth has a net positive and favorable rating. ZERO. Everyone had it negative.
According to Kalshi, the odds of Hegseth being the first to leave Trump’s cabinet have skyrocketed since Friday…from 18% to 35%. pic.twitter.com/sI4qYIlagQ

CNN is not paying for the partnership, but it is exclusive at the moment, meaning the news brand is not working with any other predictive market data providers.
“CNN is known for its accurate, fact-based journalism and analysis that helps audiences understand what’s going on,” said Sam Felix, CNN’s senior vice president of strategic partnerships and business development. “By partnering with Kalshi to feature prediction market data in our programming, CNN journalists will have a new data-driven lens to explore and better understand the world around us.”
This comes at a time of good news for Kalshi, with the prediction market recently reporting that it had more than doubled his company’s valuation in less than two months. As prediction markets like Kalshi continue to explode, the question of how they can be used in politics and news becomes ever more prominent.
